Let’s face it, the moment you hear " artificial Christmas Wreaths,” you automatically think about those ugly plastic wreaths that you hang outside your door during the Christmas season. This might have been true decades ago, but today even artificial wreaths hardly look artificial at all. Walking into a store and checking out these “plastic wreaths,” will definitely give you a bit of a surprise since they look so real and far from plastic. Similar to artificial Christmas trees, the quality of artificial Christmas wreaths have improved throughout the decades.

However, before we go on any further, let’s back up and discover how this practice of placing and using wreaths came about. In pagan worship, the wreath was used as sign that a person or individual, whom the wreath was bestowed, received divine favor from the gods. The circle in the wreath was a symbol of eternity, since the circle shape has no beginning and end. This belief was held high by Druids during ancient times. Since time went on, the different beliefs intermingled with each other and the meaning of the Christmas wreath has changed as well, particularly into what we know now.

Essentially, Christianity came into the picture and wreath became a symbol for the crown of thorns that Christ wore and had during his crucifixion. Another interpretation that came out was than the wreath symbolized the eternal love of Christ when he died in the cross to save humanity.

No matter what kind of wreath you use, whether it be traditional wreaths or artificial Christmas wreaths, knowing what the meaning and history of wreaths will give you a better appreciation for it.

When looking for the right wreath, you have two choices; either you get traditional Christmas wreaths or artificial Christmas wreaths. You will find several advantages when it comes to using traditional wreaths; however, it is not every time that you can use them or find them. Therefore, more people are turning to artificial Christmas wreaths instead. Contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of benefits that artificial wreaths can offer. Here are some that can be useful:

They remain “fresh.” When dealing with real wreaths, they require plenty of attention from you. You need to maintain their freshness and make sure that they don’t die out on you before the holiday season is over. With artificial wreaths, worries like these are not needed. It will continue to look fresh from the day you bought it and even until the next year and after that. You can reuse them and have a decoration that can last a lifetime.

Variety is not a problem when it comes to artificial Christmas wreaths. They are available in different colors, designs, as well as sizes. All you need to do is look for the right one that fits your needs and requirements for the space you have. When looking for a specific color or size to fit your space, the variety could be endless.

Handling these artificial wreaths is also not a problem. When it comes to real wreaths, you might have to handle it delicately in order for it not to get deformed. For artificial wreaths, this is not a problem at all. They also do not fade easily. If you want to indulge your creativity, you can buy half done wreaths and design the rest by yourself. This will reflect your own personality as well as style.

Artificial Christmas Wreaths – To Choose or Not To Choose

The battle between the usage of natural and artificial Christmas wreaths continues to be brought up every single year. Many environmentalists believe that the use of artificial Christmas accessories and decorations, such as artificial wreaths and garlands, are very destructive to our environment. However, a lot of people say otherwise, stating that it is the use of natural decorations that is slowly killing our natural green resources. So, what is it really going to be? Will you go for natural or artificial this coming holiday season?

First of all, what are wreaths exactly and why do we need to have them? In the early days, back when globalization was not even beginning, pagans believed that the gods are giving them favors. The wreaths used to be thought of as a sign when the gods have fulfilled a specific divine intervention for them. But when Christian beliefs slowly emerged, the meaning of the wreaths has been transformed. Most Christians believe that the wreath is the symbol of the thorn crown that Jesus himself wore on the day he was crucified. And believers hoped that by looking at the wreath, we would always remember the hardships that the Savior has done for the world, most especially during the time of Christmas.

There are a lot more interpretations and explanations that people gave as to why the wreath plays a big role every time the holidays come. But whatever the explanation may be, one fact remains the same, the Christmas wreaths have become and inextinguishable tradition all over the world.

Over the years, many versions of the renowned wreath have entered the society. There were the original plain green ones, and then came the decorated and lively ones. And now, there is an abundance of the artificial Christmas wreaths all over the planet. But just as I have mentioned in the beginning, people ceaselessly battle for the positive and negative effects of using these artificial Christmas wreaths. You see, the times when artificial Christmas wreaths used to be plain plastic are long gone. Now artificial Christmas wreaths look exactly like natural ones, so a lot of people go for them. Additionally, because they do not perish, they can be reused every year for a very long time.

Artificial Christmas wreaths are also very much available wherever you go– they are in the malls, various shopping chains and even in online stores. I know that the debate will never end between whether using natural decorations is better than using artificial ones or the other way around. Think about this, Christmas is the time when we celebrate the holiness and the peacefulness of the entire planet. Why don’t we just focus on the ideals that both natural and artificial Christmas wreaths hold, and forget about their disadvantages even for once?
