One of the most important Christmas decorations that we have during the holidays are Christmas Wreaths. Christmas wreaths have had a long history and they are one of the original decorations used during Christmas until today. However, did you ever stop to think about its meaning and significance?

Back in the day, wreaths were generally regarded as a symbol that divine favor has been bestowed in an individual. It signified that the gods were giving you favor. The circle represented eternity because of its never ending repetition. The Romans regarded the wreath from Apollo as a sign of eternal love.

On the other hand, the Druids believed that the wreath was a proclamation of human’s surpassing the normal timelines. As time passed, migrations happened and cultures mixed. Because of this, pagan and Christian custom intertwined and has come to provide the meaning of the wreath as we know today.

Moving forward with today, Christianity kept spreading and thus influenced the meaning of the wreath as well. Today, many regard the wreath as a symbol of the Lord’s undying love and the blood He shed for us. Specifically, the red holly berries as well as the scarlet ribbons signified this. Moreover, other people take the Christmas wreaths as a symbol of the Lord’s crown of thorns.

Understanding the history of the Christmas wreaths is necessary if we want to find the right place for it in our homes. It simply makes it more meaningful for us knowing what they symbolize. When it comes to decorating the wreaths, most people buy premade ones. However, you can actually create your own wreath. All you need is a wreath ring, florist wire and then some vegetation to decorate the wreath.

You can buy the wreath ring and the florist wire in any crafts store. They are definitely affordable and will not be difficult to find. As for the vegetation, you can find them in your area. Just make sure you’re not trimming down things from your neighbor without permission. Conifers can serve as an interesting base while holly, ivy’s and other shrubs would be interesting to incorporate in the wreath. If color is important, go for berries, seedpods, poppies, teasels, and pinecones.

First thing to do once you have everything is to secure a certain length of wire at the bottom of each foliage. Use the wire to tie the foliage to the wreath ring. Keep on repeating this procedure until the foliage becomes steady and secure. After you have managed to place everything, you can start adding the vegetation. You can go ahead and design it the way you like. This is where your creativity and input comes in. Just make sure that it will look pleasing to the eye. The more interesting things you add, the more unique your wreath will become.

Christmas Wreaths – No Money to Buy One, No Problem

Christmas could never be complete without the decorative elements that are synonymous to the holidays, such as Christmas trees and Christmas wreaths. Although we know that these adornments are merely for aesthetic purposes, they are also no doubt very important. For a lot of people, the tradition of applying these decorations to various places inside the house becomes their bonding moment. Families, most importantly, find the time to catch up with each other’s lives as they share a task to decorate their Christmas tree.

But sometimes, no matter how much we would like to have all the needed decorations of the season, our budget will still get in the way. If you think about it, Christmas wreaths and other decorations are not really given out for free. You will still have to go to the mall and buy them. However, you should not let your financial drawbacks ruin your Christmas.

Again, I know that these decorations are merely for physical displays and they don’t really have anything to do with the true meaning of celebrating Christmas. Nevertheless, would you not like to experience the enjoyable feeling of decorating your house and seeing everything light up with the joyous colors of these adornments?

There are so many ways that you can have cheap and affordable Christmas decorations for your family to use. First, you can try to buy selections that generally have lower prices. Alternatively, if you have a friend who is already dispatching their old decorations, you can ask to just have the remaining functional ones. But if you would really like to get the most out of your Christmas season, why not just make Christmas wreaths with your family? Surely, by doing this, you will get the bonding time that you have longed for the entire year. Plus, you will have the decorations you need.

All you have to do is buy the necessary materials, or you can simply use ones that you find lying around in your house. These are usually just foams, candles, ribbons, sticks, leaves, glue, and other ornaments. Using your imagination, just put all of these materials together to create the wreath that you wish. But if you are too afraid of having a not-so-desirable output, you can simply follow instructions on how to make your own wreath. You can find a lot of these step-by-step manuals on the internet.
