Why is it Essential?

People usually do not think about the significance of Communion sets in today’s world. Christian churches still revere these to be important items that are used to represent and share the love and body of Christ.

In spite of the fact that a Communion is an important celebration, there are still some people that are not acquainted with it and how it actually goes.

The Holy Communion actually mimics a celebration that Jesus had with his disciples. This gathering is representative of the Last Supper that Christ had.

Another name for the Holy Communion is the Eucharist celebration. This serves as a breaking of bread and thanksgiving. It represents how Christian believers can now hear, taste, touch, taste and receive the Lord’s grace through Jesus Christ and his sacrifice.

In a Holy Communion celebration, all the elements stand for something else. For example, you have the bread and the wine. Here, the bread is taken to represent the body of Jesus.

As the bread is broken by the priest, this symbolizes the sacrifice that Christ made to save humanity and by doing this sacrifice he cleansed humanity from sin.

Communions actually saw a decline in practice at some point; however, today, the tradition has become an important part in every church celebration.

As for children, they can partake of the Communion usually at the ages of seven or eight. They go on to have a Confirmation during their teen years. The Parish priests are usually the ones who have a hand in determining whether a child is ready for Communion.

Ultimately, the parents have the last say in the matter and when they think their child would be ready.

Holy Communions are very special events; hence, there are also several important elements involved. For people in the clergy, an important tool to have for communions would be communion sets.

Of course, communions are not just limited for the children, in fact, any person who wants to accept Christ can go ahead and partake of the Communion. There are times when the need for an on-the-spot Communion is called for.

Because of this, portable communion sets are made available to people. People in clergy can carry these same sets as they travel and be able to use it.

Before, communion sets were more often than not, made of silver which made it expensive to mass produce. Traditional communion sets usually consists of the chalice or cup, the paten, the cruet, and the pyx. These are all essential elements to the communion.

For example, there is the pyx, a small storage container for the Eucharistic bread. The cruet is the bottle that is used to store the wine which is taken to represent the blood of Christ.

You also have the other tools like the paten, which is a small silver plate used to hold the bread. Finally, there is the chalice or the cup where the wine is poured into.

All these elements are essential in the event of a Holy Communion. This event is definitely a big part of a Christian’s life.

With the aid of Communion sets, anyone who yearns for the Lord can surely live under his grace and love.

Our priest friend always has with him his communion set everywhere he goes. He frequents hospitals and nursing homes to bring communion to the sick.
